CALL TO ACTION: ANADARKO, LET’S HELP OUR FAMILIES AFFECTED BY THE WILDFIRE

ANADARKO, OKLA. (TUC) — Friends, we need your help.

The amazing and sweet Alexandrea Pedersen reached out to us because she had it on her heart to do something to help the families who were impacted by yesterday’s wildfire, and we absolutely want to help make that happen.

We would like to work together to set up a donation center here in Anadarko, whether that ends up being at City Hall or somewhere else in town, where people can come together and donate items these families may need right now.

Some of our neighbors lost their homes and nearly everything they had inside of them yesterday. They’re waking up today having to figure out where to go from here, and we want to do whatever we can to make things even just a little bit easier for them.

And if there’s one thing we know about Anadarko, it’s that when something bad happens, this community comes together. People show up, neighbors help neighbors, and everyone does what they can to lend a helping hand.

Right now, we’re trying to figure out the logistics and help find a location where we can make this happen. We also want to make sure the things being donated are actually things these families need, so once we get everything organized, we’ll share more information about specific items and where they can be dropped off.

So that being all said, if you are a local business, church, organization, community leader, or anyone who may have a location we could use as a donation center, please reach out to us or let us know if the comments below. We would love to work together and get something set up as quickly as we can.

For the families who were affected by yesterday’s wildfire, our hearts are with every single one of you. Please drop your needs in the comments below, whether that’s clothing sizes, shoe sizes, toiletries, household necessities, or anything else you may need right now.

Don’t be afraid to tell us what you need. We’re going to work together as a community to help however we can.

Alexandrea, thank you for having this on your heart and reaching out to us. This is exactly what community is about.

Anadarko has always taken care of its own, and now it’s time to come together again.
