ANADARKO, OKLA. (TUC) — Go Darko, it's yo' birthday! We're gonna party like it's yo' birthday! We're gonna celebrate the Darko way, all day!

Today is a pretty special day for our little corner of Oklahoma.

On August 6th, 1901, Anadarko officially became a town, which means today we're celebrating 125 years of history.

But it's important to remember that Anadarko's story didn't begin in 1901. It began long before the town was ever established. Before there were streets, businesses, and neighborhoods, this land was home to several Native American tribes. Their history, cultures, and traditions continue to shape our community today and remain a big part of what makes Anadarko such a special place.

CADDO COUNTY, OKLA. (TUC) — Y'all, if you've ever been curious about your family's history and wanted to learn more about where you came from, you don't have to search very far.

Did y'all know that Caddo County is home to several genealogical societies dedicated to preserving our local history and helping people trace their family roots? Pretty cool, right?

FORT COBB — Folks, today we're diving into the history of Fort Cobb. We are going to talk about how the town got its name, the story behind the original US Army fort, and how the Fort Cobb Reservoir, known to most of us as Fort Cobb Lake, came to be.

So, we are going to jump right in. Fasten your seatbelts and let's take a trip back to the 1800's.

ANADARKO – Whether you've lived in Anadarko your whole life or you've just spent a lot of time here, chances are you've probably spent more than a few days at Randlett Park. It's one of those places that's woven into the fabric of our community. Over the many years, it's seen everything from citywide celebrations and family gatherings to little league baseball games, playground adventures, and generations of kids growing up right here in our hometown.

And as always, it got us thinking. We all know the park, but who exactly was Col. James R. Randlett, and why was one of Anadarko's most prominent parks named after him? So, as we usually do, we went down another history rabbit hole, and y'all... we struck gold.

We strolled around Dodge today and got to take some really neat photos to share with y'all. One thing we couldn't help but notice was this old building sitting along the river.

What may initially look like an old abandoned building to some actually has a pretty amazing history behind it. When you stop and look at the bigger picture, it's incredible to think about how far society and technology have come over the years and how different life looked for the townsfolk who called this area home more than a century ago.

So, we're about to take y'all all the way back to 1901. Think of it as time travel, but just without the DeLorean and the flux capacitor.

As we mentioned when we officially launched this series yesterday, we're starting close to home here in Caddo County. As the series continues, we'll see where the road takes us from there.

So today, we're traveling back in time to 1947 to take a look at one of Anadarko's most recognizable historic landmarks: the Redskin Theater.

Today, we're taking a trip back to the year of 1912 to talk about one of Anadarko's most iconic landmarks, the historic Rock Island Train Depot.

If you're from the Anadarko area, chances are you've probably driven by this old depot more times than you can count. So, we finally decided it was time to learn more about its story.
