DUTTY’S DINGERS: GO DUTTY, GO!

CHICKASHA — Y'all, we are so excited to feature this incredible nonprofit this week! We feel that more people need to know about what they’re doing. They truly deserve all the support this community can give them.

It all started with Dutton, a sweet little boy who has autism. His mom, Megan, saw there weren’t very many local resources to help kids with autism safely partake in sports activities. That’s when Megan took matters into her own hands and as a result, created something truly special. Way to go, Mom!

“Life definitely just threw this curveball at us! No one plans for their child to have a disability; however, I felt like we were not going to let it stop our son from being able to experience all the fun kid activities.”

Based out of Chickasha, Dutty’s Dingers is centered around giving kids with autism a safe and welcoming place to play recreational sports. But it goes way deeper than that. At the end of the day, it’s all about building a real community, creating friendships, and bringing people from all walks of life together.

At Dutty’s Dingers, there’s a place for everyone. And truth be told, not everyone may fully understand it at first, but that’s okay. When you take the time to learn and open your heart to these kids, you’ll experience the kind of joy that no words could ever express.

“One really special moment for me was at the home run derby. My son elopes, which is basically when they will dart away from you. This can be scary, and I’ve learned how to carefully manage it, but I’m always on edge when a situation can be dangerous. At the home run derby, Dutton was running all over the place, but almost everyone around would say, “Hey, there’s Dutty!”, “Catch him!”, “Hey, watch out!”. It literally brought tears to my eyes, knowing he was seen and that people were watching out for him. This was because of the awareness they had. They didn’t see a kid “misbehaving” or “not listening”; they knew who he was and understood the circumstances, and that moment made me realize this is why I advocate so hard.”

Quitting is never an option for Megan. She carries the responsibility of advocating for her son by educating others and helping people better understand children with autism. For Megan, it’s about building a world that’s safer, more understanding, and more inclusive for kids like hers.

“I always go back to something Maya Angelou said: do the best you can until you know better, and when you know better, do better.”

When asked what’s next, Megan shared that they currently have a couple of locations pending for their baseball get togethers. Once a space is secured, she says the possibilities are truly endless. Parents are already stepping up to plan splash pad days and other gatherings, all centered around creating a safe and welcoming space for their kids.

As for what she wants the community to know right now, the message is very simple. They are ready, they just need support. Right now, they are looking for safe, fenced areas where they can host events. They currently have 28 kids ready for field days, with equipment, supplies, and jerseys on the way.

This is where you come in. If you have the space, resources, or time to give, now is the moment to step up and help make this happen.

They are open to ideas and are calling on anyone with time, talent, or resources to get involved and help create meaningful opportunities for these kids.

Anyone interested can reach out at duttysdingers@yahoo.com, and you can follow along on Facebook and Instagram to see what is coming next. They also welcome photos from the community and are excited to highlight those who take part.

This is more than just a program. This is a movement built on love, awareness, and community. With the right support, there’s no telling how far Dutty’s Dingers can go.
