THE LEGEND OF THE OKLAHOMA OCTOPUS

OKLAHOMA — Has anyone here ever heard of the legend of the Oklahoma Octopus? We know it sounds a little wild since we're landlocked here in Oklahoma, but after going down the rabbit hole on this one, we found a pretty interesting story.

According to the legend, there's an octopus that somehow adapted to living in freshwater and is said to live in Lake Thunderbird, Lake Tenkiller, and Oologah Lake.

The legend also says the Oklahoma Octopus has been blamed for several unexplained drownings in those lakes. But the stories don't stop there. Some swimmers have claimed they felt something brush against their legs while they were in the water. Others out on boats have reported seeing a large shadow moving beneath the surface. Some divers have even said they felt like they were being watched while underwater, and there are even stories claiming that some drowning victims had unexplained markings on their bodies.

Now, it's important to remember that these stories come from local folklore and eyewitness accounts. We couldn't find any verified evidence that the Oklahoma Octopus exists or that it was responsible for any of the incidents people have linked to it. We also couldn't find any scientific evidence that octopuses have evolved to live in freshwater.

That's one of the reasons the Oklahoma Octopus is generally considered a legend rather than a real creature. But anyway, we thought it was interesting and wanted to hear y'all's thoughts. Let us know what you think in the comments.
