ARDMORE SPLASH PAD CATCHES STRAYS IN ALLEGED $1,000+ VANDALISM
ARDMORE, OKLA. (TUC) — We’ve reported on some unusual crimes, but beefing with a splash pad is most definitely a first for us. A 42-year-old Oklahoma City man is facing charges after allegedly causing more than $1,000 worth of damage to a splash pad in Ardmore.
According to official court documents, on August 6th, Jeremiah Lyon allegedly grabbed black paint and splattered it across the splash pad, causing more than $1,000 in damage. Lyon was later arrested and is now facing a felony charge of malicious injury to property.
He is also facing a public nuisance charge stemming from a separate allegation that he was harassing customers who were present at a local business.
And another note: Bro, what did the splash pad do to you? Did it splash you one too many times or something? Did it splash your girl? Because this felt personal.
As of now, the splash pad has declined to comment but is reportedly cooperating with the authorities. While the physical damage is estimated at more than $1,000, the emotional damage is, unfortunately, priceless.
We’ll keep y’all updated. In the meantime though, the splash pad has reportedly entered therapy and is taking things one spray nozzle at a time. May it heal, rebuild, and learn to splash again one day.
