HEARTBREAKING NEWS: YOUNG BOY’S BODY RECOVERED FROM NORTHWEST OKLAHOMA CITY CREEK
OKLAHOMA CITY — This is never the kind of news we want to report, but this heartbreaking loss deserves to be acknowledged.
The Oklahoma City Fire Department said crews were first dispatched around 2:45 p.m. yesterday to a creek in Northwest Oklahoma City after receiving reports that a young boy had been seen going underwater.
According to the fire department, two separate groups of teenage boys were at the creek near Northwest 186th St. and North Western Ave. when this occured. Officials said one of the boys saw his friend disappear beneath the water and immediately shouted for the others to call 911.
Officials said that just before 4:40 p.m., one of the department's dive team members located the young boy in the creek. He was found in approximately 15 feet of water.
Because the victim is a minor, authorities have not released the child's identity. Out of respect for the family and their privacy during this incredibly difficult time, we will not be publishing the child's name if it is later released.
There are simply no words that can ease the pain of a loss like this and no parent should ever have to bury their child. Our hearts are with this young boy's family, friends, loved ones, and everyone affected by this unimaginable loss.
