MISSING PONCA CITY MOTHER FOUND SAFE; HUSBAND ARRESTED

PONCA CITY, OKLA. (TUC) — About a month ago, the Kay County Sheriff's Department issued a missing person alert for Amanda Rogers, a mother and wife who was reportedly last seen under suspicious circumstances. But thankfully, she was found safe the following day.

However, more details are coming to light about what allegedly happened before she disappeared and how investigators say her husband was involved.

According to what's been reported, Jason Rogers allegedly told his wife that she either needed to take her own life, or that she would "never be seen again."

Investigators also allege that he then forced her to leave behind her cell phone and for her to write goodbye letters for her children. Y'all, that is so heartbreaking. We can't imagine the fear and uncertainty she must have been feeling in that moment.

But the Lord had other plans. The day after the missing person alert was issued, Amanda was found safe at her parents' home. While that was an incredible answer to everyone's prayer, this case was far from over. According to reports, she was found with injuries that investigators say were consistent with domestic violence.

Y'all, this one really gets to us because it's easy to read a headline and forget there's a real family behind it. We can't imagine what Amanda has been through, and our hearts are with her and her children.

While Amanda was finally safe, investigators continued working behind the scenes to piece together exactly what had happened. According to the Kay County Sheriff's Office, that investigation ultimately led to the arrest of Amanda's husband, Jason Lee Rogers. Authorities say investigators developed enough probable cause to take him into custody Thursday afternoon.

Authorities say Rogers is facing charges of domestic abuse in the presence of minors, along with attempting, conspiring, or endeavoring to commit an act of violence involving serious bodily harm or death. And as this case moves through the court system, we hope and pray that justice is served to the fullest extent of the law.

At the end of the day, we don't often get to share the kind of ending where a missing person is found alive. For that alone, we're incredibly grateful. We hope Amanda can begin to heal, surround herself with people who love and support her, and find peace in the days ahead. Our hearts are with her and her family.

And while we're on this topic, we also want to say that domestic violence often happens behind closed doors. A smile can hide a lot of pain, and sometimes the people who seem like they're doing okay are carrying the heaviest burdens.
