TUTTLE ASKING RESIDENTS TO CONSERVE WATER AS TOWER LEVELS DROP

TUTTLE, OKLA. (TUC) — For those of y'all who live in Tuttle, this one is for you.

According to city officials, the latest water report is showing that the water towers are sitting at about 70% capacity, and under the city's water conservation plan, once those levels fall below 80%, Stage 2 restrictions automatically go into effect.

So, here's what that means for y'all:

If you're watering with a sprinkler that's connected to city water, you're now limited to one watering day per week, and you can only water before 10:00 a.m. or after 7:00 p.m.

So, If your address ends in an odd number, water on odd-numbered days. If your address ends in an even number, water on even-numbered days.

And there are a few other things that aren't allowed while these restrictions are in place. That includes hosing off driveways, sidewalks, buildings, or windows with city water, filling swimming pools with automatic fill valves, draining and refilling pools, running ornamental fountains or ponds that use drinking water (with a few exceptions), and washing your personal vehicle unless you're using a bucket or a hose with a shutoff nozzle.

However, there are some exceptions. If you've recently planted new trees or shrubs, or you're watering around your home's foundation, you can still use a handheld hose, soaker hose, or drip irrigation system for up to two hours a day. If you've got a garden, you can also water it with a handheld hose as long as it's before 10:00 a.m. or after 7:00 p.m.

The good news is that car washes are still open, and if your home uses well water, these restrictions don't apply to you.

We know this heat has been relentless, and nobody likes being told they can't water their yard whenever they want. But city officials are asking everyone to do their part so the community's water supply can recover.

Hopefully these restrictions won't have to stay in place for long, and we'll keep y'all updated if anything changes.
