BREAKING NEWS: SEMI-TRUCK CRASHES INTO OKLAHOMA CITY HOME, GAS LEAK PROMPTS EVACUATIONS
OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. (TUC) — Y’all, there’s a pretty serious situation unfolding in northwest Oklahoma City this morning after a semi-truck reportedly crashed into a home near Northwest 70th Street and North Meridian Avenue, close to Northwest Expressway.
According to the Oklahoma City Fire Department, this happened shortly after 10:00 a.m. During the crash, the semi reportedly hit a gas line, causing a gas leak in the neighborhood.
And because of the gas leak, fire crews aren’t taking any chances. Nearby homes have been evacuated while emergency crews are working to get the leak under control and make sure that the area is safe.
As of right now, the fire department says the driver of the semi-truck was taken to a local hospital and is thankfully in stable condition. We have not received any reports of additional injuries at this time.
We still don’t know what caused the semi to crash into the home, and crews are actively investigating to figure out what may have led up to this incident. And if you're traveling this way, please avoid the area while they are still working on the scene.
This is still a developing situation, so we’ll be keeping a close eye on it and, as always, we’ll update y’all as more information is released.
