HEARTBREAK IN OKC: 3-YEAR-OLD CHILD DIES AFTER BEING STRUCK BY VEHICLE

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. (TUC) — This is the kind of news we absolutely don’t enjoy reporting, but unfortunately, these stories need to be told. Not because we want to sensationalize someone else’s tragedy, but because we believe awareness matters. Stories like this remind us to look out for one another, pay attention to the little ones around us, and remember that sometimes it only takes a few seconds for something to go terribly wrong.

According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, a three-year-old child was hit by a vehicle Saturday evening in southwest Oklahoma City near Southwest 15th St. and South Mustang Rd. Police say it happened around 7:00 p.m. According to police, the three-year-old was in the middle of the roadway when the child was struck.

And sadly, the part that hurts the most, that little child did not survive.

Police say the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The authorities have also said they do not believe the driver was under the influence at the time of the crash.

And yes, we know the questions that immediately come to mind: Why was a three-year-old child in the middle of the road around 7:00 at night? Where were the child’s parents or whoever was responsible for watching them at the time?

Those are fair questions, but right now, we don’t have those answers. We don’t know what happened in the moments leading up to this tragedy, and we’re not going to make assumptions or place blame when those circumstances haven’t been made public.

What we do know is that a family is living through their worst nightmare right now. There is a family grieving the tragic loss of a three-year-old child whose life ended far too soon. So, no matter what happened in the moments leading up to this tragedy, a little life was lost, and that is absolutely heartbreaking.

Our hearts are with this child’s family and everyone affected by such an unimaginable loss. We truly can’t imagine the pain they’re carrying right now. And y’all, hug your babies a little tighter. Look out for the little ones around you, even if they aren’t yours. Sometimes it only takes a few seconds for everything to change.
