GOOD NEWS: STOLEN DOGS RECOVERED IN DUNCAN BURGLARY CASE

DUNCAN, OKLA. (TUC) — The Duncan Police Department reported a burglary at Minson's Veterinary Hospital that occured sometime between July 30th and July 31st.

During the burglary, three dogs named Gracie, Opie, and Pepper were stolen, along with two sets of pet cremains, a mini refrigerator, several bags of dog food, chewable flea treatments, dog leashes, heartworm medication, a computer mainly used for animal dental X-rays, and possibly vaccines, according to police.

But thankfully, there is some good news to share. In the latest update on the case, the Duncan Police Department has confirmed that Gracie, Opie, and Pepper have all been found and safely reunited with their families.

For many of us, dogs aren't "just pets." They're family. They're our best friends, our comfort on the hardest days, and the ones who are always waiting at the door when we come home. We're so thankful Gracie, Opie, and Pepper are safely back where they belong.

According to a media release from the Duncan Police Department, officers responded to a burglary alarm at a business near Highway 81 and Main Street around 4:00 a.m. on August 2nd.

When officers arrived, they discovered evidence of an attempted break-in and immediately began searching the surrounding area. During that search, they encountered two juveniles who fled when officers attempted to make contact. Although the juveniles initially ran from officers, investigators were later able to identify them.

Officers were later able to conduct a search of a nearby residence with the homeowner's consent of course, where they recovered a significant amount of the stolen property, including Gracie, Opie, and Pepper. Police also reported that they recovered several other items that are believed to be connected to multiple other burglaries in the Duncan area.

The two juveniles were later taken into police custody. Because they are under the age of 18, their identities will not be released. The investigation remains ongoing, and we will continue to keep y'all updated as more information becomes available.

We also want to take a moment to recognize the Duncan Police Department for a job well done. This is exactly the kind of outcome everyone hopes for. Great work, Duncan PD!
