NEW SCAM ALERT: Y’ALL… THAT AIN’T THE OSBI CALLING YOU
OKLAHOMA — While the rest of us are just trying to survive this disgusting summer heat, somebody who probably doesn’t even live here apparently figured it was a great time to start scamming people.
“She doesn’t even go here!” IYKYK.
Alright, back to the story…
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has recently released a statement warning the public about a person who has been going around claiming to be one of their special agents. Y’all… bless their little fraudulent heart.
According to the OSBI, this person is out here really calling people pretending to be an OSBI special agent with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. This genius is reportedly telling folks that if they don’t call him back, he’s going to have a warrant dropped for their arrest… Sir, that’s not how any of this works.
The OSBI says they do not call people demanding a callback or threaten them with an arrest warrant over the phone.
Moral of the story: If somebody is threatening you over the phone and trying to scare you into calling them back or handing over your personal information, that should be your first sign that something ain’t right.
So, if you get one of these calls, don’t let your blood pressure spike. Hang up, and for the love of all things deep fried, please don’t give out any personal information.
Y’all, be careful out there. If it smells fishy, don’t take the bait. Scammers are out here working overtime. Maybe they should put that kind of effort into getting an actual job. Just saying.
