OKLAHOMA CITY COMMUNITY LEADERS AND SUPPORTERS STAND WITH NOLAN XAVIER WELLS' FAMILY IN THEIR SEARCH FOR JUSTICE.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Even though this tragedy happened hundreds of miles away from us, it's touching the hearts of people here in Oklahoma and all throughout our nation.

Several community leaders and supporters came together in Oklahoma City on Saturday to seek justice, calling for answers in the death of Nolan Xavier Wells. This is just one of many gatherings happening across our nation as people rally behind Nolan Xavier Wells' family and show their support.

And, for those of you who may not be familiar with Nolan's story, here's an overview of what happened so you can understand why so many people across our entire nation are pushing for a proper investigation to be conducted.

Nolan Xavier Wells was just 18 years old when he was found deceased a little over a week ago along the shoreline of Horn Island, about seven miles off of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

According to investigators, Wells went on a Fourth of July boating trip with friends along Mississippi's Gulf Coast. However, when the boat returned to shore, Wells was no longer on board. His parents reported him missing after speaking with one of Wells' friends at approximately 11:00 p.m. that same night. Sadly, just two days later, his body was found along the shoreline of Horn Island.

According to what has been shared by Wells' family during a press conference, they have heard claims that Wells allegedly told his friends to leave him on the island with the suggestion or implication that he would swim back before accidentally drowning. However, according to his family, they aren't convinced that's truly the full story and continue to seek answers about what exactly happened to their son. Keep in mind, these are unconfirmed claims, and not facts. Right now, we don't know exactly what happened, and that is why this case has gotten national attention.

Because as of right now, there are still more questions than answers. And since some of y'all want to get things all twisted, we are not stating foul play was involved. Again, preliminary information coming in points to an accidentaly drowning, but due to several other factors in the case, his parents are asking for a proper investigation to be conducted to determine if that was the case or if it may have been something else.

Our hearts hurt for Nolan's family. We are praying that the full truth comes to light, and that the investigation is able to provide the answers his loved ones deserve, wherever the facts may lead. We will be following this one closely and report back with any updates as they are released by officials.
