SOMEBODY CALL NOAH: OVER 500 ANIMALS FOUND DURING DRUG WARRANT
OKLAHOMA CITY — Authorities say they served a drug trafficking search warrant yesterday at a home near South High Ave. and Southeast 15th St. in southeast Oklahoma City. Since the warrant was related to an alleged drug trafficking investigation, it's probably safe to assume the officers expected to find drugs.
But we're pretty sure they were not expecting to find what was basically a small zoo. Y'all, more than 500 animals. And, that's not a typo.
Officials say they've counted 520 animals so far, and are still working through the property, so that number could continue to increase. According to authorities, the animals include lizards, birds, dogs, cats... and yes, even one horse.
That search warrant went from a "drug investigation" to, "Can somebody get Noah on the phone? We've got a few hundred animals that appear to have missed the ark."
But on a more serious note, the good news in all of this is that authorities say the animals appeared to be in good health and were generally well cared for. That's a relief.
As for the search warrant itself, authorities say they seized 30 pounds of meth and made four arrests. As of now, the identities of those arrested have not been released.
So, if you've been thinking about bringing a new pet into your family, you may want to keep an eye on the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter. If these animals are eventually cleared for adoption, there could be quite a few looking for furever homes.
