STRONG STORMS SLAM OKLAHOMA OVER FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND

NORMAN — Y'all, this weekend was something we don't think we've seen before, or maybe we just can't remember, but we can't recall a Fourth of July weekend where storms rolled in like this one.

Storms rolled through our state over the Fourth of July weekend, causing fireworks to be postponed in several cities across the metro. Norman looked like it took the biggest hit, with uprooted trees, downed power poles, and some poles even snapped in half from the intensity of the storm. High winds tossed trampolines through neighborhoods, flipped semis, caused major structural damage, and lit up the sky with power flashes.

It's been reported that wind gusts in several areas reached up to 100 mph. By this morning, more than 12,000 people were still without power as crews worked to restore electricity and clean up the damage.

Luckily, no injuries or fatalities have been reported as a result of the storm as of now, and we hope that stays the case.

We're thinking of everyone cleaning up after the storm and everyone still without power. We hope you're able to get back on your feet soon, and we're wishing everyone calmer skies and a safe week ahead.
