TIRE FAILURE REPORTEDLY CAUSES FIRETRUCK TO CRASH OFF HIGHWAY IN PAYNE COUNTY

PAYNE COUNTY, OKLA. (TUC) — Two Ingalls firefighters are in critical condition after their firetruck crashed on State Highway 51 in Payne County on Thursday.

The firetruck was traveling west on State Highway 51 near West Point Rd when a tire reportedly failed. The truck then crossed into the eastbound lanes, crashed through the guardrail, and went down an embankment.

According to the Stillwater Fire Department, the driver became trapped inside the firetruck. Stillwater firefighters assisted with medical care and worked to extricate him before he was airlifted to a Tulsa hospital. The second firefighter was also critically injured and was taken to a local hospital by EMS.

After seeing the photos released by the Stillwater Fire Department, our hearts sank. It's hard to look at those pictures and not realize just how devastating this crash was. We're praying for both firefighters and their families, and we truly hope they make a full recovery. Our hearts are with everyone affected by this crash.
