CHICKASHA — Those of y'all who have been here for a while already know how we operate. And for those who are new, welcome to the sh*t show and prepare to buckle up.

We happened to be scrolling through Facebook when we came across a post in the Chickasha community Facebook group complaining that there weren't any cooling stations in Chickasha with this heat, and somehow in that post, the blame ended up falling on the mayor. And y'all, we just couldn't keep quiet on this one.

Maybe we're just naive or too sheltered, but we have never even heard of cities having cooling stations. So, to our surprise, finding out that Chickasha actually offers them? That's pretty awesome, y'all. We didn't even know that was a thing. Anyway... back to the story.

OKLAHOMA – In light of the recent events and conversations circulating on social media surrounding cases like these, we wanted to share this story. Just as Stormi, Kayla, and Krysten courageously shared their experiences with us all, we believe it's important to continue bringing awareness to these issues.

So before you decide to scroll past this, we ask that you take just a couple of minutes to read all the way to the end. The statistics we dive into at the end are absolutely heartbreaking, and sadly they paint a real picture of what far too many children are living through every single day.

COLLINSVILLE — We held off on sharing this one until investigators released more information because we wanted to make sure we had the facts before reporting on such a horrifying case that sadly involves minor children.

According to information released by the Owasso Police Department, dispatchers received a 911 call on July 23rd at approximately 11:16 p.m. regarding a domestic violence incident in Collinsville. While dispatchers were on the phone with the caller, they reportedly could hear a woman screaming in the background, followed by the horrifying sound of what appeared to be a gunshot. Officers were then immediately dispatched to a home on North 130th East Ave.

And while officers were on their way to the home, dispatch reportedly received a second 911 call. According to investigators, it came from a minor child who had run to a neighbor's house for help. Police say the child told dispatchers that his stepfather had just shot his mother. That second call gave officers an even clearer picture of the terrifying situation they were about to walk into.

OKLAHOMA — Alright y'all, it's almost time for our kiddos to officially head back to school. And we already know that some of y'all are impatiently counting down the days until you get the house to yourselves again, while some others are over here stocking up on tissues and wondering how the summer flew by so fast.

Cue the ugly crying and somebody pass us the tissues, please. Anyway...

While everyone and their grandmas are making trips to Walmart and Target to grab notebooks, pencils, backpacks, and everything else that somehow ends up in the cart, there are also a few new changes taking effect this upcoming school year that us parents should know about.

OKLAHOMA — While the rest of us are just trying to survive this disgusting summer heat, somebody who probably doesn’t even live here apparently figured it was a great time to start scamming people.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has recently released a statement warning the public about a person who has been going around claiming to be one of their special agents. Y’all… bless their little fraudulent heart.

LAKE PONCA — We received preliminary reports of a tragic incident at Lake Ponca earlier today involving a man who was swept away by a strong current.

According to the information we’ve been given, a man was out on an inflatable raft with his wife, enjoying a day at the lake with friends, when he reportedly removed his life jacket and jumped into the water to cool down. We were told that the current was too strong, and he was quickly swept away.

OKLAHOMA — Ok, y’all, breakfast just got a whole lot more boring. Apparently, over 19 million individual eggs are currently being recalled due to a potential salmonella outbreak. The eggs are reported to have a best-by date of July 20th through August 17th.

According to what’s been reported by the FDA, eggs that were produced in Texas between June 6th and July 3rd by Midwest Poultry Services are being recalled. It’s reported that these eggs were distributed to several stores across multiple states, including Oklahoma.

OKLAHOMA — Apparently Oklahoma decided to become completely unhinged while we were laid up with the cold sweats, surviving on Pedialyte, and probably making a few questionable life choices along the way.

But anyway, once we finally came out of our coma, we learned there was a party in Southwest Oklahoma City last night that was poppin’. Unfortunately, it wasn’t in the good way.

And all jokes aside, this situation took a heartbreaking turn. What reportedly started as a fight ended with someone opening fire.

OKLAHOMA — Y’all, some of our team members haven’t been feeling too well for the past 2-3 days, as you can probably tell from the lack of our reporting lately. However, after conducting a “highly scientific” investigation (comparing our notes in the group chat), we figured out the one thing we all had in common… We all ate Taco Bell at some point in the past week or two.

Now, before y’all panic, we’re not saying it was the Cheesy Gordita Crunch that has us feeling some type of way. It could really just be a coincidence.

TULSA — Y'all, dreams really do come true. We are freaking out over here because we just learned that IKEA is opening its very first Oklahoma location this fall in Tulsa.

The time has finally come where soon we will get to walk those glorious showroom floors, buy a bunch of stuff we really don't need, and then leave with a car packed to the brim of stuff we will have to assemble later. But you know what? It's totally worth it.

TULSA — Well, this one is certainly... different.

The Tulsa Police Department has reported that a man was allegedly carrying what police are describing as a "portable" meth lab inside a bag. Yeah, we had to read that several times because we didn't even know that was actually a thing.

According to Tulsa Police, an officer was patrolling on Friday last week near Admiral and Sheridan when he saw a man by the name of Darryl Riggins walking in the middle of the road while texting. The officer pulled up next to Riggins to make sure he was okay, and that's when police say that Riggins threw a bag into the grass.

OKLAHOMA — Ok, right now there's a lot of talk about the Cyclospora parasite and the number of cases increasing throughout Oklahoma. And yes, it's a very scary word but don't let that make you panic. So, we are going to go over it with you all and break it down without any fear mongering.

So, let’s start with what Cyclospora is. Cyclospora is a teeny tiny parasite that causes an infection in the intestines. As of right now, we could not find anything to confirm that it is being spread person-to-person, so that's a relief. And the way you can contract this parasite is by eating contaminated produce or drinking contaminated water.

MUSTANG — When tragedy strikes one of our communities, Oklahoma always has a way of coming together because the pain isn't carried by just one person or one family. It weighs on us all. That's just the kind of people we are here in Oklahoma.

Since we first began reporting, we've been blessed to witness it with our very own eyes. We have seen complete strangers show up for families they have never even met. Whether it's saying a prayer, dropping off a meal, donating a few dollars, or just a loving reminder to someone that they are not alone, our communities always seem to come together when we need each other most.

OKLAHOMA CITY — It looks like Oklahoma City is going to get a brand-new (city) flag, y'all.

Mayor Holt of Oklahoma City has recently launched the OKC Flag Project, which is an initiative that gives residents the opportunity to help redesign the city's official flag. A website has also been created where people can learn more about the project.

We think this is pretty cool, y'all. It's not everyday you get the chance to make something that will become a part of OKC's history.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Y'all, there was a horrible wreck yesterday in the city. It's a heartbreaking reminder that no matter how upset or angry we may get behind the wheel, it's never worth letting it go this far. And now, a young woman is dead as the result of an apparent road rage incident.

According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, two vehicles were reportedly involved in a road rage incident while traveling in the northbound lanes of Highway 152 near Southwest 59th yesterday. In a horrific turn of events, the two vehicles collided, sending one of them rolling into the southbound lanes, where it then crashed into another vehicle, killing that driver.

OKLAHOMA — We saw this earlier on the highway and just had to share it with y'all. We may have officially found the most Oklahoma-looking cloud of smoke we've ever seen to date.

It's a bird.. It's a plane... Nope, it's just a cloud of smoke doing its best tornado impression.

OKLAHOMA CITY — An update has been released regarding the man who was found deceased on Saturday in northwest Oklahoma City outside Spin Laundry.

The Oklahoma City Police Department now has a suspect in custody in connection with the incident.

According to police, investigators were able to obtain surveillance footage that reportedly captured the entire incident. Police say the victim was asleep in front of the laundromat when another person approached him with a cinderblock in hand and began beating him to death.

EDMOND — We have sad breaking news coming out of Edmond this evening.

The Edmond Police Department says officers responded alongside the Edmond Fire Department to a call for service around 6:00 p.m. today involving a person who was reportedly drowning at Lake Arcadia.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Even though this tragedy happened hundreds of miles away from us, it's touching the hearts of people here in Oklahoma and all throughout our nation.

Several community leaders and supporters came together in Oklahoma City on Saturday to seek justice, calling for answers in the death of Nolan Xavier Wells. This is just one of many gatherings happening across our nation as people rally behind Nolan Xavier Wells' family and show their support.
